05long-term stability

After treatment is complete, we support the long-term stability of your teeth. A night retainer and/or an internal retainer help to hold the result achieved. In addition, regular check-ups over the years are possible, supported by digital documentation, to detect changes early.

What studies show about aligners.

Effectiveness, comfort, well-being and oral hygiene: these studies compare clear aligners with fixed braces.

Randomised study · 2022

66Participants

Good treatment results

In a randomised study of 66 people, aligners and fixed braces achieved similar outcome scores, both at the end of treatment and six months later.

Study & background

Lin et al., 2022: 32 people with Invisalign and 34 with fixed braces. ABO-OGS assessments found no statistically significant between-group differences at the end of treatment or after six months of retention. The trial studied simple malocclusions; its findings relate to that study group.

Randomised study · 2017

41Participants

Less discomfort at the start

In a randomised study of 41 adults, the aligner group reported less discomfort in the first week of treatment than the fixed-brace group.

Study & background

White et al., 2017: 23 people with Invisalign and 18 with fixed braces; adults with Class I malocclusion, treated without extractions. Self-reported discomfort was also lower with Invisalign after the one- and two-month adjustment appointments. The study was partly funded by Align Technology.

Systematic review · 2023

955Participants · 12 studies

Greater everyday well-being

A review of 12 studies involving 955 participants found better oral health-related quality of life with aligners than with fixed braces after one week, one month and six months.

Study & background

Li, Du and Yang, 2023: a systematic review and meta-analysis of 12 prospective comparative studies, including 5 randomised studies. Six studies examined Invisalign and six examined other thermoformed aligners. Certainty of the quality-of-life evidence was rated moderate. Oral health-related quality of life was measured with the OHIP-14 questionnaire; analyses at individual time points each included a subset of the 955 participants. Funded by public research programmes in Beijing; no competing interests declared.

Randomised study · 2015

50Adolescents · 12 months

Benefits for oral hygiene

In a twelve-month randomised study of 50 adolescents, the aligner group had less dental plaque and better gum health scores than the group wearing fixed brackets.

Study & background

Abbate et al., 2015: 50 adolescents aged 10 to 18, with 25 receiving Invisalign and 25 fixed brackets. Both groups received professional cleaning and standardised oral hygiene instructions. Assessments took place after 3, 6 and 12 months. The authors declared no conflicts of interest. A review of six randomised studies rates the certainty of evidence as very low for oral hygiene and low for gum health; the observed benefits depend substantially on patient compliance (Alhuwaizi et al., 2026).

NIRI gives us an additional view between your teeth. Near-infrared light can reveal signs of decay that are hard to see when looking into the mouth. We can discuss the images together and consider your dental health when planning your treatment.

Your NIRI scan is included in your first aligner appointment at our practice in Frankfurt.

Study & background

Kanar et al., 2024 examined 639 interproximal tooth surfaces in 22 people using the iTero Element 5D. The study supports NIRI as an additional aid for detecting interproximal decay. We assess the images alongside the clinical findings; medically required X-rays remain part of individual diagnostics.

Our Standards

What sets a medically-led aligner treatment apart.

01
Aligner Material

We work exclusively with premium aligner systems from established manufacturers. High precision fit, even force distribution, and comfortable wear for controlled, gentle tooth movement.

02
Attachments

Small, tooth-colored attachments placed on selected teeth. They enable precise control of complex movements such as rotation, torque, intrusion, or extrusion — central to modern aligner therapy.

03
3D Planning

Every treatment is digitally planned in three dimensions. All tooth movements are simulated in advance and executed in clearly defined therapy steps.

04
Aesthetics and Function

The therapy targets both aesthetic goals and functional stability. Occlusion, anterior and posterior segments, and long-term bite function are all considered.

05
Clinical Experience

With nearly 4,000 aligner treatments, our team is among the most experienced in modern aligner therapy. Structured planning and standardized processes.

06
Doctor-led Treatment

Every step of the aligner therapy is performed under medical supervision. Planning, execution and check-ups are structured and complemented by digital communication.

Transparent costs

One of the most common questions before an aligner treatment is: „What does this actually cost – and why do the prices differ so much?" A perfectly fair question. Dental costs often seem opaque. So here we explain openly how the price of an aligner treatment is made up.

  1. The dental service – the diagnostics, the three-dimensional treatment planning, the fitting and the regular check-ups at the practice. This is billed according to the GOZ.
  2. The dental technology share (laboratory share) – these are the aligners themselves, manufactured by the producer. This share depends on the system used, the number of aligners and the scope of treatment.

That both parts are considered separately is not a detail, but the very core of honest costing.

All cost information

One of the most common questions before an aligner treatment is: „What does this actually cost – and why do the prices differ so much?" A perfectly fair question. Dental costs often seem opaque. So here we explain openly how the price of an aligner treatment is made up.

Dental services are billed according to the GOZ

In Germany, the Gebührenordnung für Zahnärzte (GOZ – the official scale of fees for dentists) applies to dental services. It is binding – there are no freely invented flat rates or fixed prices. The price depends on the actual effort your individual case requires: findings, severity of the misalignment, planning, number of check-up appointments. That is precisely why no reputable practice can quote you an off-the-shelf final price in advance. What you do get is a written treatment and cost plan before treatment begins – it states your individual price, transparently and bindingly.

The price consists of two parts

Why we pass on the laboratory share fairly

A clear legal rule applies to the laboratory share (§ 9 GOZ): a dental practice may charge only the laboratory costs actually incurred – no more. Such laboratory terms are usually volume-dependent: the more aligner treatments a practice carries out, the lower the manufacturer calculates the laboratory share. Because of our treatment volume we receive correspondingly favourable terms – and we pass this advantage on to you in full. We add nothing on top of the laboratory share.

This also means: laboratory terms can change. So that you can rely on a figure, your personal cost estimate is binding until the end of the calendar month.

What do „from" prices mean?

When you see „from" prices with us, these are guide values for suitable cases – not a fixed price. Your actual price only emerges after the examination and is stated in your treatment and cost plan. No hidden costs, no surprises afterwards.

Our promise: transparency instead of small print

With us you find out before the treatment what to expect – broken down comprehensibly into dental service and laboratory share, calculated according to the GOZ, with favourable laboratory terms passed on in full. If you would like to know what your individual treatment costs, simply arrange a consultation appointment – we will work it out for you personally and transparently.
