Is home whitening suitable for me?+
We assess this during a dental examination. Suitable teeth and healthy gums are prerequisites. Decay, leaking fillings or other findings may require preliminary treatment. This offer is for adults aged 18 and over.
How white will my teeth become?+
That depends on your starting shade, the type of discolouration and the application. We discuss a realistic target with you. We cannot guarantee a particular shade or a fixed duration of the results.
How do I plan whitening before an event?+
Tell us the occasion and date early. The examination, tray manufacture and whitening need preparation time. After your instructions, you fit home applications into everyday life; daily wearing time and total duration depend on your gel and findings. We also plan for possible breaks due to sensitivity. A specific result by a fixed date is not guaranteed.
Is the NIRI scan included in the first appointment?+
Yes. The dental suitability assessment and digital NIRI scan are part of your first appointment and included in the kit price. NIRI uses near-infrared light and can provide signs of early decay between teeth. We discuss the images and your findings with you in person.
Does NIRI mean I no longer need X-rays?+
The NIRI image itself uses no X-ray radiation. However, it cannot reliably detect every instance of decay or assess the entire clinical situation. We decide whether additional X-rays are medically necessary based on the examination. NIRI does not replace necessary X-rays.
Why is the check important even with mild whitening gel?+
A low active-ingredient concentration does not replace an examination. Decay and leaking fillings can make it easier for whitening agents to penetrate the tooth and put the dental pulp at risk. We therefore investigate abnormal findings before whitening and treat them if needed. Whether white enamel spots are suitable for whitening depends, among other things, on their cause and activity.
What if I have sensitive teeth?+
Tell us about any existing discomfort before you start. Whitening can temporarily make teeth more sensitive. We agree the application with you. If you experience pain, stop applying the gel and contact our practice.
Will fillings and crowns become whiter?+
Fillings, crowns, veneers and other dental restorations are not lightened by whitening. We discuss beforehand whether this could create visible shade differences.
Will my health insurance pay for whitening?+
Cosmetic whitening is an elective service paid for privately. A regular check-up under Germany's statutory health insurance is separate and may be billed to your insurer if the requirements are met. We explain in advance which services can be billed to your insurer and which you pay for privately. The NIRI scan at the first appointment is included in our private kit price; this does not promise automatic reimbursement by your insurer.
How does a later touch-up work?+
We check whether your trays still fit and whether another application is suitable. You receive refill gel for the agreed application cycle. The first application of each new cycle is also carried out by a dentist or under direct dental supervision. We agree the gel, quantity and further application in person.
How much does refill gel cost?+
Two original 1.2 ml Opalescence PF syringes cost €29 including VAT. That is €14.50 per syringe. The price covers the gel; we discuss the costs of any necessary examinations or additional services beforehand. Well-fitting trays and suitable teeth remain prerequisites for a touch-up.
How many applications are possible with two syringes?+
That depends on your trays, the amount of gel needed and your personal treatment plan. Two syringes therefore do not imply a fixed number of applications. We show you the correct dosage and provide the amount you need until your next check-up.
Do I need a dental cleaning beforehand?+
Before whitening, deposits and external stains must be assessed and removed if necessary. We discuss with you in advance whether cleaning or further treatment is needed, including any additional costs.
